Let me rewind for a sec. 

For those of you who don't know my background, I am a physical therapist by formal education. It was in PT school where I originally started learning about sales and marketing. 

I never understood why we learned all of these things like hands on skills, how to diagnose, how to treat patients, but they never taught us how to actually acquire a patient to come into the clinic! 

I started to see how the real world was while I was in my 2nd year of PT school. How PT clinics were primarily relying on referrals from other healthcare providers to keep their clinics standing...

I knew this problem could be solved with good marketing.

But PT school never taught us that.

It was during that first clinical rotation where I got my “aha” moment. They were only bringing in patients from other providers. I realized that the way they aren’t marketing, is the reason they’re stuck through the ways other people are telling them to treat.

AHHH! 

So, I had the amazing opportunity this weekend to speak at a huge virtual summit, Smart Success Healthcare Virtual Summit 2020. What an amazing event!! 

I always get so many golden nuggets and takeaways after attending events like these. 

Rather than speaking on something really tactical, I decided to speak about the power of messaging, because it is a critical, yet too often overlooked piece to a successful business.

Welcome to my first official blog post!

It's currently March 23rd, 2020. I'm sitting at my kitchen table, taking a break from listening to the news about the Coronavirus. (What a shit storm this all is. I am hoping and praying that all of this is over soon)

This stress about COVID-19 certainly isn't helping my relatively new autoimmune diseases I've been diagnosed with. If you follow me on social media, I recently posted about being diagnosed with Hashimoto's, an underachieve thyroid disorder. Just last week, I was also diagnosed with SIBO. Mix the 2 together and I am dealing with constant fatigue, deep joint pain, brain fog, and extreme gastrointestinal distress that makes me extremely sick just about anytime I eat something. But, I am hopeful that everything has been diagnosed properly now and I am at the peak of all of this and on the road to healing and getting the mass amounts of inflammation out of my body!
